DELUSIONAL (2024) | A DRAMATIC COMEDY SHORT FILM

EMMA, A YOUNG WOMAN BATTLING DEPRESSION AND PHONE ADDICTION, IS CAPTIVATED BY A TIKTOK

TAROT CARD READING PROMISING ROMANCE. HER INFATUATION WITH A COFFEE SHOP EMPLOYEE

INTENSIFIES, BLURRING THE LINES BETWEEN FANTASY AND REALITY.

I came up with the concept for Delusional during the pandemic, when I noticed a rise in tarot and psychic readings on TikTok. At the time, I found myself turning to those videos almost as a source of validation, searching for meaning or reassurance in what they predicted. That experience made me want to explore how social media, especially an app like TikTok with algorithms tailored to individual preferences, can shape our perception of reality. It’s concerning to me that these algorithms can curate a personalized narrative that aligns only with our own perspectives.
